Just a movie

I watched about an hour of the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. Can't watch any more of it. Not that it's so badly done, but that it is so on point.

We are destroying the Earth. We won't change until we are at a critical point. Who knows if it is too late or not. I have often thought that the Earth would be better off without us, wondered which species would evolve as the dominant one. I can't say that it would be a bad thing if we were gone. Yes, we have a lot of good in us, a lot of nobility, a lot of grace and beauty, but so much darkness along with it, so much --

I couldn't finish watching it, though, because of the whole military thing. I absolutely cannot stand to see shows where the government/military take control. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Makes me crazy. I'd rather live on top of a mountain, in SNOW, than live under a militaristic government. And we right now are so close to that, it's scary. When we give the government permission to do what they want, in order to protect us, it's a mistake. That old say, power corrupts? Absolutely true. True believers are dangerous as hell.
